speed bumps

for all the baby mama's and baby mama's-to-be...

A baby slows you down. You slow down enough to peer endlessly into their little blue-gray eyes that are only open for precious bits of time. You don't care if they can "see" you the way that you can see them, but are stabbed by amazement that you had something to do with the fact that she is there... a spirit behind them...looking and feeling and being... there.

So, let it slow you. It is only a speed bump on the long long road. It may jostle you and mess up your hair and bubble some stuff to the surface you forgot about. It will definitely make you cry. But it is only a speed bump and it is over so quickly, onto busier and perhaps more unchartered territory with potholes and such... so let yourself slow and enjoy the ride.
